I think you picked up a very hard light condition, and I feel you didn`t work it out right: the overexposed parts are unpleasant (to me). I also don`t like amputations very much, and you might possibly choose a tighter crop (say, by the man`s ankle, using an unconventional proportion) to eliminate the partial foot.
