I do too! It keeps my eyes moving back and forth in the frame... from the mantis back to the flower... over and over again. Cool effect.

Perfect macro shot, Mary. As a personal opinion, I think the yellow splash attracts the eye away from the main theme of the image.

Love these insects!! They are so cool. I like the `yellow splash` but on it`s own. I wish we could see more of the mantis and how well it camouflages with it`s surroundings. Have you looked at Mike Baldwin`s bug shots? He`s got to be one of the best for bug macros.
