I try to capture moments, not just images. What interests me most is photography of the unseen .... project and compose "atmosphere" along with the actual subject photographed, I haven`t had much succes in doing this but it`s getting better very gradually, the reason for being here is to observe and learn.
I have all the proper equipement I formerly used for family snapshots and holidays, now I hope to get into a "better" phase.
I photograph with Nikon, I currently use the F4s most. Lenswise I am still trying to find the one that fit`s my intentions best. Most of my shots (70%) I take with a Sigma 20-40mm, with whith I feel comfortable. Another lens which I reall start enjoying is the Tamron SP AF 90mm. I also have a Nikon 80-200 2,8 which is nice but in combination with the F4s makes Photography rather more a body building thing. (very heavy)
I also have a digital Nikon D100 which I seldomly use ... just to photograph my new born son and other snapshots. I am not an analog fanatic, I just don`t like digital ..... (yet?)
Like lenses I have also tried lots and lots of film, I now solely shoot Kodak with the E100VS slidefilm as favorite, Recently I have also been testing the BW400CN C41 B/W film. B and W photography requires a diffent "insight" into photography, one must start to think in grey tones rather than the colour we see.... I like B/W and will certainly continue shooting this.
I always, well 80 % of the time use a tripod, this give me time to think twice of what I am going to shoot, and how exactly to do it.
I use a handheld lightmeter in order to doublecheck and learn all about light, since light is according to my views the most important factor of photography, and it`s light that provides the atmosphere I am looking for.
I scan my film with a Nikon 4000 scanner, but ry to stay away from to much adaption, I like "shot as it is" analog photography, love the smell and handling of film ....
I live In southern Germany, Bavaria with my wife and new born son. I am a scientist specialised in the field of "chaos theory" which I apply in many other area`s of science.
I don`t have any hobbies, just a couple of things I like to do, photography is one of them ....
