Originally “Alfama” was the Arab and Jewish quarter, today one of the wonders of Lisbon and the area that best preserves its atmosphere!...
Here we can find a magical labyrinth of true narrow streets, interconnecting roofs, sloping alleys, steep stairways, tiny squares, lots of arches, drying laundry decorating facades, balconies of forged iron, birdcages, decorative tiles above doorways, pots of geraniums and gardens hung from the garrets, popular taverns and some well known restaurants where we can listen the most profound expression of the popular soul of Lisbon” O FADO”!
Sometimes a huge palace may appear…

Hi Katrin
Thank you for your comment : I suppose these are some influences I got from the paintings (sketches and water colour paintings) that you can by from the street sellers: these old streets of Alfama inspired many of these popular artists during decades and decades and I really love them and its works, as far as, I love this beautiful old quarter! If you can see ohter photos I will post about the place, may be you can understand why I like this one.
Kindest regards.

Very interesting how you choose to have this picture so light toned. But becose of this we can easily see f. ex. how the steps are made and so on. Very nicely done I thing and well captured.

Very nice shot and composition, Luquesio! How could the left top wall be too bright?

Hi Quyhn
I think I am going to e-mail you the original colour photo and I`ll explain to you why, if it`s OK with you?
All photographs I made about Alfama depicts my personal taste, I mean, some look like this one, others have a lot of grain, others are very dark...in all these pictures I did not have the need to take the obvious and make the best... they are very, very special for me and I am prepared to accept all kinds of comments, opinions and critics. The most important is to share with you the way I see Alfama through my lens and I completely assume that I may have some influences I got from some sketches and drawings I bought in the streets but I also think that the more I try to imitate the work of somebody that pleases me very much, the sooner and the better I will improve my own style and I am not and will never be ashamed of that!
Quyhn, this is my opinion and opinions are like cameras. everybody got one!
