her rich burgundy hues are lovely..and I really like your interesting frame technique here..I wish that those antennae were sharper..could this be a moth perhaps?? nice job..
You are the only one who sees it, Babette!!
We don`t have anything tis hugemoujngous on our side of the pond. Interesting.
So natural colors!
Nothing superfluous...

Hmmm...maybe a double cross? Lovely work as usual, Peter. I think Mary is right that this is a moth. A butterfly holds it wings upright when still, and a moth lays them flat.
Thanks Sandra, now I know it is a moth! I had better call it Moth 1
A good-looking moth, good composition, creative and fitting framing. But I feel spoiled by your other, "more complicated" work, which you certainly have a knack for. Yet, you`re right, you`re right. Simplicity is good too.....:)
I began to think, that all this insects are your freands, because they were posing so patiently and help You to make such a beautiful shots
Moth on the cross - almost poetry
Simple yet very beautiful.
Great macro, Peter! Why not crop to the inner framed area for an even tighter composition? Sandra`s distinction between butterflies and moths is not reliable (sorry Sandra)...a lot of butterflies also bask with their wings open especially in dull weather (it is how they get warm...they close when it is sunny). A better guide is the end of the antenna...if it is clubbed (has a knob on it) it is probably a butterfly...if not, then a moth. So Sandra was right, if for the wrong reason!
Beautiful creativity, Peter.
Great shot Peter.
