It`s taken in a zoo, zoomed in as much as I could. Please, tell me what you think of the composition. I don`t know, but I feel as if there is something missing there.

Apparently this picture is not taken under ideal conditions. What is "bothering" me is that the ledge on which the tiger lies is more prominent than the body. It is as if the body delated, taken from a higher point would have been better but probably impossible. What I would do is crop it to only the head till just pas the front leg, the shoulder blade. To me that would make the picture much more powerful with a better balanced composition. Otherwise light and focus are as they should.
Another way, although not as powerful effect, would be more of the branches in the foreground as to frame the upper part of the picture.

Thank You Andre! I appreciate your comment and advice. You`re right about my not having much of a choice - it was in a zoo and an inch here or there would show something too "zoo-like." smile
Thanx again!

well... for me there`s too much stone in the photo. Tiger is kinda melted into the background. And it would be nice idea to somehow accentuate him. maybe by taking out of focus the foreground.
the thing is nearly same coloring of the tiger and the stones or whatever you may call it spoils the overall impresssion by the photo.

Sincerely,
Denis

Thanx Denis! I agree that there is a lot of stone here. But as the title says it is about the camouflage that hit me then, in the zoo, and even more now, when I made it into b&w. zIn color, the tiger was more visible, but b&w was actually what I intended the pic to be like.
But I will reconsider my future photos as to this issue.
Thank you again!

Unfocusing the fg seems to be a good idea for the tiger stands out in a better way. However i like the grayscale here. Nice textures and definition. Best regards.

Hi Miguel! Thank you for your opinion. I agree that making the FG unsharp would make it better, but then it would also mean something impossible to achieve by means of a camera. Well, maybe if I had a larger zoom and shotit from farther away,.....
Yeah, I`ll try to do it at home, but I already start to see the advantges.
Thanx a lot for the advice!
