Famous monuments of Alfama...
The Cathedral = Se Catedral: it was built on the 12TH century to commemorate the victory of D. Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal, over the Moors in 1147!
It is Romanesque style but subsequent to the several earthquakes (1337, 1344, 1347 and 1755), the interior was rebuilt several times and many Baroque elements were added, such as the sacristy, which contains a large collection of sacred objects. The Gothic Apsidal Chapels as far as the Deambulatoire and the 13TH century Gothic Cloisters still remain and are well preserved. The two beautiful symmetrical towers flanking its majestic faзade are traces of its medieval origin.
One of the most enjoyable ways of getting there is taking the tram nє. 28 whose route links Prazeres Cemetery in the west of the city, with the Graзa quarter to the east, passing through the Pombaline style “Baixa” neighbourhood and climbing the steep hills of Alfama…

I`m sorry, I made a wrong move and all the commentas just desappeared: what I reall wanted to do was to change the previous photo for this one with some photoshop adjustments made by my friend Rosa!

Muito obrigado Miguel! Fico mesmo muito contente com isso e a unica coisa que lhe posso garantir e que estas fotos sobre Alfama e sobre o Bairro Alto foram feitas com muita emocao e tem tambem um significado muito especial para mim! E obvio que eu nao pretendia deitar fora os comentarios que haviam sido feitos, mas a Rosa teve a amabilidade de fazer uns acertos no photoshop que melhoraram bastante o aspecto da foto(corrigir linhas verticais e horizontais) a minha intencao era portanto inserir essa foto corrigida e informar as pessoas do que havia acontecido; como o Miguel sabe nao tenho nenhum problema com isso e quando se trata de aprender mais alguma coisa sobre fotografia ou melhorar o aspecto dos meus trabalhos utilizando meios que eu nao domino tao bem como outras pessoas, nao hesito absolutamente nada em receber de bracos abertos essas ajudas, so tenho e que agradecer.
Gosto muito dos Acores, e la que estao as minhas raizes, mas Lisboa e uma das minhas cidades preferidas: se eu fosse rico teria um apartamento na floresta da Tijuca com vista para o Rio, outro em Victoria Peak com vista para Hong Kong e ainda outro em Table Mountain com vista para a Cidade do Cabo, mas Lisboa com o seu Bairro Alto, Alfama , Castelo e Mouraria chega para tudo isso!...
