in fact, there is a bunch of xmas traditions in Russia, lots and lots. Most of them have pagan roots and and much in common with roman saturnalia. In less wide sence, xmas futuretelling assumes young girls trying to see their future husband and perspective of marriage. Candles, water, mirror, window, road. There is another interesting WINTER (!) ritual - bare naked women walk around a village to prevent any decease to get in.
