TAVIRA is a beautiful and well preserved medieval town in Algarve, South Portugal, located in the two banks of Gilгo River, connected by a Roman Bridge which was reconstructed on the XVII century.
Special roofs and chimneys are one of the main features of this town: the roofs (telhados de quatro бguas = four-sided roofs) have the shape of a pyramid, in a very sloping position and do not cover the entire building, there is one roof for every room so you can see multiple roofs in one building! Chimneys are also very typical on this region as you will see.
This is a general view of the left bank and part of the Roman bridge.
