Solvychegodsk. A temple of XVII century of construction.
It was necessary to remove already in darkness.
More than century later after end of the Cathedral of the Lady day the church of the Phenomenon of the Virgin has marked itself peak of development stroganovskogo style of church architecture. This church has been constructed in Znamensky's diocese of the monastery based in 1565 by three sons of Aniki Stroganov - by Jacob, Grigory and Simeon. All monastic buildings, including churches, in the beginning were from logs. They remained those down to the end of XVII century when works on erection of new magnificent church have begun. Church of the Phenomenon of the Virgin - an outstanding construction for many reasons, not last of which skilfully cut out calcareous scenery on the brick ex-terrier. In addition to columns, window apertures and bowls (kokiljam) from limestone (cut out most likely in Moscow) facades also have been trimmed by colourful ceramic tiles. Appearance has been a little bit changed (the most significant change has been brought in XVIII century). Then the gallery (firstly open terrace) has been enclosed by a calcareous fence with the intricate eaves, hidden now a sloping roof.
Near a temple there is a hydrochloric source with the timbered turret constructed on it (a copy then stroganovskogo a paling). The district abounds with such sources, in addition the salty lake Soloniha here is located and the saltish small river Usol proceeds. Really, the name of city "Solvychegodsk" means " salt of Vychegda ". It now extraction salt it is perceived by us as due, but it is necessary to recollect, that in the Middle Ages salt was one of the most valuable subjects of trade, and people could not do without it. In XVI century in this area of Russian North Stroganovy have established monopoly for manufacture salt, which has brought it fabulous riches.
