Some kilometers far from the place of my previous photo, there is another national park, both were declared by UNESCO as World Heritage.. at this one, all stones and big walls are red, those same red seen at distance at previous image..
it is called Talampaya.
here, another big part of history was found, not dinosaurs, but pictographs.. the feelings, the need of express of our primitive inhabitants, the real owners of this land, can be seen at many stones.. simple, effective art, telling us about their life, and also about their magic universe..
As a message with a photo variant, i show one of those pictographs.. but at this image, some formations, another art work, this time with master nature as the artist..

Stone giants waiting for somesthing to come, like Buzzatti's heroes, under this low cloudy sky, this picture could have be taken a lot of centuries ago. Argentina is something to know...

An impressive landscape! Very nice photo, good composition and colors. Very interesting too, as well as the photo of the pictographs.

Lovely shot Silvia. And thanks so much for the write-up. I am almost expecting a martian alien to poke his head around the side of the structure in the foreground. laugh The image almost seems not of this earth. I like sci-fi mystery !! smile

Looks like Arizona or Utah. How old are the pictographs Sil?

silvia marmori silvia marmori #28 Fri 25 Aug 2006 14:39

the park serves to protect a wealth of 6,000-year-old pictographs and petroglyphs (rock paintings and engravings). The flat rock wall known as El Pizarron, or "the Blackboard," is covered by paintings and engravings of animals and other scenes, the wall is at least 9 meter (30 feet) high by 30 meter (100 feet) wide, perhaps even more.
