i like so much the design that shadows form.. good eye!.. also the good choice of tones..
about the misssing part at bottom.. it attracts attention.. i tried to do other crop, to enhance only the lines and shadows, but the nice curve of the circle is lost.. i tried also to darken partially the bottom as the top is.. but finally.. i prefer yours! smile
