This is a 3.5 mile long train beginning to go down Cajon Pass in California. The rock that you see is onle in frame about 1/3. These rocks sit on the San Andres fault line. Where the Pacific plate meets the North American plate. The fault runs from below Palm Springs at the Salton Sea to San Francisco and then out to sea. The difference in height here is a grade of 4200 feet in 11 miles. The fault line has moved 37 miles is 1.6 million years. Californians wait for the big earthquake from this fault line. If it makes a large slip it could possibly effect people and buildings for hundreds of miles.
