My first thought at viewing this was to crop some of the darkness from the left hand side but then I realized it would cut off the split log.
The window is different and very refreshing and I think that even by itself (tighter cropping) it could carry the frame.
Oh! And at first quick glance I thought those were snakeskins that were shed!
