Bakota - a picturesque place near the Dniester River, located 55 km east of Kamenetz-Podolsk. In XIII-XIV centuries there was a city Bakota - the capital of "Ponizia", was the name of the territory between the Dniester and Southern Bug. In 1259 the city was destroyed by Mongol-Tatars. He was later reinstated, but the grandeur was not reached and turned in time to the village. In 1981, the construction of hydroelectric Novodnestrovskaya this place was flooded, forming a picturesque bay of the Dniester, a depth of 60 meters!
