Photo taken near Maimbong (Jolo, Sulu, Philippines) many years ago. I was hiking for a week and lived with the locals. I found them very friendly and I couldn`t believe when I heard about the capturing of tourists. I am not sure what has gone wrong. The photo shows a Badjao couple in their normal means of transport, the outrigger canoe. Their houses are off shore on stilts, and only several nearby houses can be reached on bridges. The coast or some other families homes can only be reached by canoe.
