Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, is located in a "Distrito Federal" in the federal state of Goias. The "Distrito Federal" has approximately 2 million inhabitants and covers an area of 5814 km2. The city, is highly interesting with regard to the town planning as well as modern architecture. Brasilia is a planned city, initiated by Juscelinno Kubitschek, at the time president of Brazil, and designed by architects Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer.
